  • From James Trager: In my recent revision: Formica (Neoformica) pallidefulva subsp. incerta: Buren, 1944 [First available use of incerta] Syntype workers, District of Columbia, iv-13-1886 (MCSN) [Examined. Five workers on three pins labeled paratypes by A. Francoeur]. And this about the types of nitidiventris: Formica pallidefulva subsp. nitidiventris Emery, 1893 [Type examined.] “310 B Wokland(?). D.C. with Polyergus lucidus. Paratype. Formica nitidiventris A. F.1968] Syn. nov. The specimen I examined conformed to what had become the standard concept of nitidiventris, the scarcely pilose dark version of pallidefulva. This specimen from New Jersey is not a paratype of incerta¸ though it is a specimen of incerta. Nor should it be a paratype of nitidiventris even if Emery, and later Francoeur so labeled it, since it does not belong to the same collection of nitidiventris with the label info just cited for my examined type; geolocate_UncertaintyRadiusMeters: 1580 geolocate_UncertaintyPolygon: Unavailable geolocate_Score: 84 geolocate_Precision: High geolocate_ParsePattern: CALDWELL
