  • Notes from Julie Miller, who collected colony, her collection code JSM0008: Nest consisted of decomposing stick, ~5cm thick; roots from the ground had grown into the stick and had to be cut in order to extract from the ground. Nest was discovered when Pamela Pairo stepped on the stick. Several individuals fled the nest, but we lingered at the site for 20 min to retrieve individuals as they returned. Interior nest walls were lined with arthropod exoskeletons, mostly black. Total colony size count = 56 individuals (not including brood), including 3 de-alates.
