  • NOTEBY J.Longino: Wet forest. A recent treefall brought a treetop to the ground that was covered with a liana [may have been epiphyte, material later matched Satyria warszewiczii, Ericaceae, in national herbarium] and a bignoniaceous liana. These ants occupied chambers inside the living terminal branches of the ericad. Small patches of carton covered the nest entrances. I did not see scale insects. There were streams of workers moving back up into the canopy. Photos.
