Patch of dry scrub. 1252: Crematogaster brevispinosa a diffuse colony covered the Bursera; workers were scattered over a large area; I found an aggregation of workers in a small bromeliad (under and around the base, under the outer dead leaves); I found an irregularly shaped chamber inside a live Bursera branch, a light-colored, coarse carton material filled the slit-like entrance, inside were w,b,3aq; a single, pink scale insect was in a small pocket of the chamber, just inside the entrance. photos. figure in notes.
