Comments:

J. Longino: In Costa Rica this species occurs throughout the country in a wide variety of habitats, from sea level to about 1000m elevation. Although most abundant in mature wet forest habitats, I have collected it in dry-forest riparian habitat at Finca La Pacifica in Guanacaste Province. The species occurs very often in Winkler samples of leaf litter from the forest floor. I rarely collect it by other means. At La Selva I found a nest in dead wood on top of large rotten log. At the Arenal Observatory Lodge I found a nest in rotten wood on the forest floor. At the Maritza Biological Station in Guanacaste Conservation Area workers came to honey/tuna baits on the ground.

Longino, 20 Jun 2014: For many years I used the morphospecies code Hypoponera JTL007 for this species.
