Notes:

Usually very dark brown to black, there is a rare yellowish to reddish variant of T. schaumii that I have collected twice in eastern Missouri, and I have one specimen that could be described as intermediate.

Found most commonly in these microhabitats: 1 times foragers on a large, cut cottonwood log, 1 times hardwood trees, 1 times UPS cargo, 1 times under large oak in lawn of rest area, 1 times under bark of Sycamore, 1 times stray forager, 1 times sifted leaf litter, 1 times sawdust pile, 1 times on trunk of oak tree in picnic area, 1 times on old tree in museum park, 1 times on cypress trunk, ...

Collected most commonly using these methods: 6 times Search, 7 times direct collection, 6 times malaise trap, 3 times beating vegetation, 2 times hand collecting, 1 times peanut butter bait on Quercus sp., 1 times Pitfall, 1 times Lindgren funnel trap baited with ethanol lure.

Elevations: collected from 5 - 2750 meters, 499 meters average
