Longino, 19 Jun 2014: Pacheco and Mackay identified material of my morphospecies JTL014, from Costa Rica, as S. major, a species previously known only from Argentina. Examination of the AntWeb images of a worker from the S. major type series reveals differences from the Costa Rican material. Solenopsis major is smaller in general, the scapes look relatively shorter, the clypeal teeth are more developed and less divergent, and the propodeum is less convex (JTL014 has an unusual, somewhat bulging propodeum). It is very unlikely that these are the same species, and I retain my morphospecies for now.
