One of the rarest ants in the United States is this Typhlomyrmex. This individual was seen and photographed by Alex Wild in the mountains of southern Arizona in 2005, but has not been collected elsewhere. The species remains unnamed and is the only member of the genus to be found north of Mexico. [specimen record at AntWeb.] Portal, Arizona, USA.
