Among the small, monomorphic Solenopsis morphospecies in the LABECOL ant collection, this morphospecies can be separated from the others  by the following characteristics:

  • being relatively large with longer legs;
  • overall dark brown body color;
  • by having a conspicuous peduncle anterior to petiole's node, in profile view the latter having its anterior face roughly with same angle to that of the posterior face (many Solenopsis have node's anterior face with an oblique angle while the posterior face descends almost straight to petiole's foramen);
  • In profile, propodeum dorsal and posterior faces are poorly developed, propodeum being dome-shaped.
  • Head is longer than wide (CI 78)
