Among the small, monomorphic Solenopsis morphospecies in the LABECOL ant collection, this morphospecies can be separated from the others  by the following characteristics:

  • body overall yellowish;
  • mesosoma compact, blocky, the propodeum having relatively well-defined dorsal and descending (posterior) margins;
  • metanotal impression conspicuous;
  • propodeal spiracle well-developed (but not hyperthophied);
  • in dorso-posterior oblique view, propodeum with a series of tranversal striae on the upper portion of its descending (posterior) face
  • petiole conspicuously pedunculated, the node is tall and node's anterior margin in profile view rises steeply from peduncle;
  • abundant relatively long setae covering body

Solenopsis ufv-08 is larger (HW  0.41 WL 0.55) than ufv-09, a very similar morphospecies
