Among the small, monomorphic Solenopsis morphospecies in the LABECOL ant collection, this morphospecies can be separated from the others  by the following characteristics:

  • body overall yellowish;
  • medium-sized among the "tiny yellow Solenopsis" (WL 0.55);
  • peduncle indistinct
  • in profile, petiole node's anterior margin oblique, forming a smaller angle with petiole longitudinal axis than the more steep angle of inclination of node's posterior margin

This is a hard morphospecies to identify, as its node shape is shared with many other morphospecies and other traits in it are not too distinct (Note by Júlio Chaul, xi.2017)
