Neotropical Region: Americas, Antioquia, Central America, Chocó, Coclé, Colombia, Cotopaxi, Ecuador, Guyana, Los Ríos, Panama, Panamá, Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, South America, Valle del Cauca

Panama, Colombia, Ecuador.

Biology:

This species is now known from a range of habitats from central Panama to Ecuador. It has been collected in lowland rainforest, second growth forest, and cloud forest. Elevations range from near sea level to 1600 m.

Identification:

This highly distinctive species has mandibles like Basiceros, unlike any other Octostruma species.
