Mexico to Costa Rica.

Biology:

This species occurs in mature wet forest and is most common from about 500m elevation to the lower edge of cloud forest at 1100m. It is most often found in fresh treefalls or by beating low vegetation. Nest have been found in a dead stem, in live stem Ficus, and in live stem Coussapoa.

Identification:

cf. pittieri; face uniformly setose; color orange to partially infuscated.
