Costa Rica: mid-elevation Atlantic slope.

Biology:

This species occurs in mid-elevation wet forest habitat. So far it is known only from the Volcan Barva transect in Braulio Carrillo National Park, at 500m elevation. It is known from one nest collection from the canopy of a Licania tree (Chrysobalanaceae), in the live stem of an unidentified vine.

Identification:

Antennae 11-segmented; metasternal lobes rounded; sides of thorax smooth and shining, without rugae on lower side of propodeum; propodeal spiracles directed upward, highly visible in dorsal view; propodeal spines relatively short compared to N. vargasi, and petiolar node relatively shorter and taller. Similar species: pleuriticus, vargasi.
