Taxonomic History (provided by Barry Bolton, 2022)

Trachymyrmex zeteki Weber, 1940b PDF: 422 (w.) PANAMA (Barro Colorado I.). Neotropic. Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Cardenas et al., 2021 10.7717/peerj.11622 PDF: 22). Primary type locality: lectotype Panama: Canal Zone, Barro Colorado Island, No. 856, 13.vi.1938 (N.A, Weber). Primary type depository: MCZ. Primary type specimen: USNMENT01129855 (lectotype). Secondary type information: Secondary type material: 1 paralectotype worker. Secondary type locality: same data as lectotype but No.756, M.C.Z. CoType 25619. Paratype-depository: MCZ. Secondary type specimen: MCZ-ENT 00025619. Type notes: According to Cardenas et al., 2021 10.7717/peerj.11622 PDF: 26: A specimen of Mycetomoellerius zeteki deposited at NHMB bears a ‘‘cotype’’ (i.e., syntype) label in error. The data label reads as follows ‘[Barro Colo. I C.Z. 3441 NAWeber] [17.vi.56 3441] [Trachymyrmex zeteki Weber] [ANTWEBCASENT0912534] [type].’ It is not possible that this specimen, collected in 1956, 18 years after the Mycetomoellerius zeteki type series was collected, is a type specimen of that species.
