Formica flavitarsus Smith, 1859a PDF: 136 (w.) INDONESIA (Aru Is). Indomalaya. Primary type information: Type-material: 2 syntype workers. Type-locality: Indonesia: Aru Is, “Aru 14”, “Aru 45” (A.R. Wallace). Type-depository: OXUM. Type notes: 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c PDF: 425, cites only 1 worker, but the two syntypes appear to have come from a single original card that was later cut in half. 2) Lucky & Ward, 2010 PDF: 33, incorrectly attribute collector as F.
