[Note: Camponotus rubripes was the name applied by Latreille to the ant earlier misidentified as Messor barbarus (Linnaeus, 1767) by Drury, 1773 PDF: 72. Latreille, 1802a PDF: 112, stresses that, “La fourmi de Barbarie de Linnée........est très différente”. See entry ‘Formica rubripes Drury, 1770’, sensu Forel, 1886h PDF: 143.].
