Taxonomic history

Replacement name for Camponotus abdominalis (Fabricius, 1804). [Junior primary homonym of Formica abdominalis Latreille, 1802 (Bolton, 1995b: 86).]
[Note: Camponotus atriceps oldest junior synonym of Camponotus abdominalis (Fabricius, 1804) (synonymy by Roger, 1862c PDF: 285, confirmed by Hashmi, 1973b: 83); hence Camponotus atriceps first available replacement name (Bolton, 1995b: 83).]
