  • Apartment on the first floor. Homeowners saw them for the first time about 6 months ago because they replaced some pipes under the floor (the heating system is under the floor). But never again after that. They saw them again a couple of days ago in the kitchen, around the dog food. Ants were also seen in the basement, right below the kitchen, in the common laundry room. I saw some ants getting out of a small crack in the wall, where it joins the floor. There were also some ants on the other side of the wall, in the bathroom of the basement apartment. I put some protein food (ham) in the kitchen and in the laundry room. The fist scouts found the piece of ham and in less than 2 minutes there were about 20 ants feeding on it, 6 of which were major workers. The colony probably lives in a crack in the laundry room and workers find their way up, getting into the kitchen from a crack that is behind the dishwasher.
