Collection notes: NOTEBY J. Longino, NOTEDATE 14-Sep-03: This was a populous nest in a large dead douglas fir log on the ground. It had loose bark under which were dozens of workers, a few males, and two alate queens. Workers very quickly fell to the ground or ran into holes in the log, vanishing almost instantly.
