Collection notes: NOTEBY J. Longino: nesting in upper branches of a canopy Ficus which had just fallen, southern edge of the old air strip along the Pavo trail. Two branch sections, 3cm. dia., were collected with nests inside. One section, which had the complete nest inside, contained 10 minors, 6 majors, 6 males, 2 alate females, and one dealate queen. The other section had a chamber continuing out of the cut end, so part of it was left. This section contained 21 minors, 1 major, 3 males, and 7 alate females. There were pink scale insects on the inside walls of this nest. The entrance hole was 5mm across, and the interior chamber running through the core of the branch was 7mm. across. I took photos of the dissected nests, and I have a figure in my field notes.
