Biogeographic regions (According to curated Bioregion/Taxon lists):

Distribution Notes:

Guyana, Venezuela (type locality), Colombia, Costa Rica. Costa Rica: southern Pacific lowlands.

Longino notes: I have collected S. altinodis in Guyana and southern Costa Rica. All have been lowland rainforest sites. Most workers were collected as foragers on low vegetation, often at extrafloral nectaries. I found foragers during the day and at night. In Corcovado National Park I encountered an aggregation of about 20 workers inside the corolla of a Psiguria (Cucurbitaceae) flower. It is uncommon in Winkler samples, further suggesting it is an arboreal species.
