Distribution:

Mauritius. Known from the southern Palearctic, Ethiopian, Oriental, Nearctic and Neotropical Regions. In the Malagasy Subregion recorded from the Seychelles (Inner Seychelles, Aldabra), Madagascar and Agalega.

Senior synonym of nereis: Wilson & Taylor, 1967: 53; of monilicornis: Baroni Urbani, 1973: 200; of mahdii, mauritia, rasalamae: Bolton, 1982: 312.
