This species is an inhabitant of wet forest canopy. It is moderately abundant at La Selva Biological Station, where it has been collected in Malaise traps, canopy fogging samples, and from several fresh treefalls. One nest has been observed: it was in a thin dead stem in the crown of a recently felled Carapa guianensis tree, and contained brood, several workers, a dealate queen, and several adult males. The P. J. Stern collection was "ex Triplaris."
Found most commonly in these habitats: 1 times found in CC 1350 m., 1 times found in lowland rainforest, 1 times found in mature wet forest, 1 times found in SSE 400m.
Found most commonly in these microhabitats: 2 times collecting from Carapa guianensis, felled yesterday, along new roadcut just beyo, <1wk old treefall between lab clearing and River Station; strays. Domin times 3322-s, 2 times in fresh treefall, 1 times malaise trap, 1-2 year second growth forest edge, 1 times ex Triplaris, 1 times copa de árbol, 1 times Collecting in recent (< 1week) treefall. A large dead snag fell, bringing a lar, 1 times Canopy fogging sample.
