Pheidole bidensHNS new species

Etymology L bidensHNS, two-toothed, referring to the clypeus.

Diagnosis A medium-large, yellow member of the flavensHNS group whose major is distinguished by the unusual bidentate anterior margin of the clypeus, heart-shaped head in full-face view, and completely carinulate clypeus.

Similar to styraxHNS of Venezuela but different in absence of an antennal scrobe and many other details of body form, sculpturing, pilosity, and color, as illustrated.

Measurements (mm) Holotype major: HW 1.04, HL 1.06, SL 0.56, EL 0.14, PW 0.44.

Paratype minor: HW 0.54, HL 0.58, SL 0.46, EL 0.06, PW 0.34.

color Major: body and mandibles medium reddish yellow, appendages dark yellow.

Minor: body medium reddish yellow, appendages plain medium yellow.

Range Known only from the type series.

biology Unknown.
