The mandible of Discothyrea horni MenozziHNS has a dense covering of moderately long thick hairs, while the mandible of Discothyrea soesilaeHNS sp. nov. has about 30 long fine hairs. The distance between the antennae is wide in D. horniHNS but narrow in D. soesilaeHNS sp. nov.
